About Kardiatec

Kardiatec S.A. is a start-up Company established in Athens, Greece in 2013. Our main focus is the manufacture and commercialization of PULVAD (Pressure Unloading Assist Device), an innovative cardiac support device designed for patients suffering from end-stage heart failure aiming at myocardial recovery. Kardiatec is a member of ELEVATE GREECE registry for start-up companies. Our Laboratory is based in 67, Mikras Asias str. Athens and is ISO 13485 certified.

Our experienced team and main executives are: John Nanas (Emeritus Professor of Cardiology at the University of Athens), Jay W. Mason (Professor of Cardiology at the University of Utah) and Chris Mortis (biotechnologist).

Our initial capital for starting our Company was provided by the Businessman Yiannis Sarantitis.

The continuation of the Company’s activities were supported by the financial aid of relatives and friends but also by our own funding and efforts. We have also received an ESPA funding through the ELEVATE GREECE initiative.

Milestones-Goals

Completed:

  • The purchase and installation of equipment for the PULVAD manufacturing laboratory
  • Staff training and with the possibility of manufacturing 2 PULVADs / week
  • The licensing of the PULVAD manufacturing laboratory with ISO 13485
  • Installation of PULVAD test, operation and durability laboratory equipment
  • Preclinical studies
  • Patents – for Europe, America, Canada, China, Japan, Korea
  • Licensing by the National Organization for Medicines (EOF) for 3 clinical trials
  • Staff training of 8 additional hospitals for the implantation and monitoring of PULVAD
